Pre-Birthday Antics

Crackle: Mom, would you make that chocolate cake you made on Dad’s birthday, for your birthday?

Mom: Ok, sure, good idea.

Crackle: Mom, can you help me?

Mom: Yes, in a minute.. I’m making the cake.

Pop: Oh, could you make vanilla? I don’t really like all that chocolate.

Snap: Oh Mom!! Could you make strawberry shortcake?!!!!

Peanut Gallery: YEAH YEAH… make that. Make that!! Make that!!!!

Pop: But make the chocolate too.. if you want.

Crackle: Could you get me some ribbon?

Mom: Ok, in a minute, I have to focus on the cake right now.

Pop: I need a fancy word that starts with the letter M.

Mom: Miraculous?

Pop: No…

Mom: Marvelous?

Pop: No…

Mom: Magnificent?

Pop: No ((sigh)) don’t you have any others?

Snap: I need wrapping paper.. and I can’t find the stickers I had, and are we going to have more food?

Mom: Snap, in a few minutes, I am in the middle of making the cake.

Crackle: Don’t get excited. There’s blood. But, I’m fine. I just need you to tell me where the bandaids are and I need another sewing needle, one without blood on it. And, Mom.. what do you use to clean up glue? Just tell me what you would usually use.

Mom: Crackle!! Ok, show me the glue later and I will get you a sewing needle without blood in a few minutes, I’m making the cake.

Pop: So, can I have another M word? And a strawberry.

Mom: I don’t have strawberries.

Pop: Just give me one when you make the cake.

Mom: I’m not making strawberry shortcake. I’m making a chocolate cake, remember?

Pop: Oh.. I thought we decided and you were going to do it.

Mom: .. and change mid cake? No, I’m sorry, I don’t have those skills.

Pop: Ok, but can you tell me your favorite color and then get me a bag and ribbon with that color on it?

Crackle: And me too!

Snap: And me too! Get me the same thing. I’m ready now if you want to get it.

Dad walks in: You don’t need me right? You’re just making the cake. I’m going up to take a shower.
